Common Planning Time

From Carol Vollnogle, a Jr. High intervention teacher in Sebring, Ohio:

"The past three years, we have approached our eighth grade inclusion as a team. We have a common planning time so we plan, implement and evaluate together. It works well because the regular classroom teacher and I have an opportunity to discuss the LD/DH students' abilities. We have high expectations for everyone in the classroom. It really works when the staff plans together. Kids that have been pulled out for math through the seventh grade made it successfully through a regular eighth grade curriculum and got B's and C's on their report cards. Many passed the professional test. Planning together is a must. It is also important that all the students belong to both teachers. Everyone benefits from this kind of collaboration."
